16x20” acrylic painting on gallery wrapped canvas

Part of the series from the photos I took when I lived in the French Quarter. This man seemed to be at every event from festivals to this secondline. Always wearing a Hawaiian or Jazz Fest shirt and a decorated umbrella and a drink in hand! I loved the peace signs and buttons on his umbrellas just dancing along with the second line with his happy hour drink, which is really all day!

Float Riders
$240.00

8×8” acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas

Mardi Gras Float Riders getting ready to throw beads! Colorful brushstrokes

A carnival of motion — riders perch on the edge of a glittering float, knees bent, arms cocked with strings of beads that catch the sunlight like little promises.

Bold strokes of color describe the scene: splashes of colors reflecting off the floats and costumes, a swipe of chartreuse on a sequined sleeve, heavy impasto of gold where light pools on metallic trim. The palette is festive and applied with playful, confident strokes that make the scene leap off the canvas. This is Mardi Gras as a moment and a memory: fun, messy, and alive!

20 x 20” acrylic with gold leaf on gallery-wrapped canvas. A woman at a crossroads—shoulders squared, eyes heavy. Her silhouette sits against layered indigo, teal, ochre, and rose: night thoughts, memory, and loss. Bold brushstrokes carry small details—a faded photo, loose keys, a half-open door—symbols of choice. Thick brushstrokes marks suggest the heaviness of decisions; thin washes suggest release. Gold leaf veins throughout the painting hinting clarity and future glimmers. Playful color and brushstrokes create hope. An intimate visual poem about letting go and having hope

30x40” acrylic painting on a gallery wrapped canvas

Back in summer 2006, when I was living in the French Quarter walking around and took several photos of this Sunday Secondline of the New Orleans Baby Dolls (and others that are paintings too). The music from the brass bands, the dancing and strutting. People watching and dancing along with them as they stroll through the French Quarter. This is a normal Sunday in New Orleans.

This piece celebrates music, motion, and the contagious spirit of Louisiana!

Manchac Swamp Camps
Sale Price: $315.00 Original Price: $450.00

10×306” acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas

12 x 16” acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas

Driving I‑55, I spotted little Cajun cabins only reachable by boat. I imagined hopping into a skiff, sitting on a sagging porch, eating jambalaya while Louisiana music drifted by. I painted that slow, sultry moment of these old weathered Louisiana camps, and the whole scene mirrored in the water. The soft, shimmering reflections carry the music and memory across the bayou. Playful brushwork and bright color invite you to pause, taste, listen, and stay.

A Sunday in New Orleans: Brass Band
$2,400.00

30x40” acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

This is the first in a series from photos I took at a Second Line in the French Quarter in New Orleans a long time ago and finally painting. It was almost a year post Katrina and things were looking much better! The New Orleans vibe and culture never really left, but it was definitely back in full force that Sunday afternoon. The band members switch out over the years, but this brass band of young men can always be seen playing for the crowds around the French Quarter.

24x30" acrylic on canvas

One summer evening walking my dogs, the sky looked as though someone had reached up with a giant brush and painted clouds that kept billowing and blooming, soft edges glowing against the late light. The blue trailer sat back a little ways, its familiar patch of color grounding the scene, while the bayou homes—ones we always pass on our walks—lined with the trees like old friends. It felt quintessentially Louisiana: you can feel the humid summer air with the low, slow choreography of clouds, and the snapshots of homes stitched together by the route my dogs and I know by heart.
